Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A strange encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden cult.
The mission focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
