According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for consideration by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to arrange her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
